| Meg Fox began playing the violin at the age of 5. Outside of traditional schooling, she attended a number of Music Institutes on scholarship for studies in classical music performance and theory such as The Interlochen Arts Academy National Music Camp in Michigan, on a Sigma Alpha Iota National Scholarship. She joined the American Federation of Musicians Local 47 at the age of 18 and began her professional music career. By the following year, in 1970, Meg was working full-time (often called as soloist and/or concertmaster) as a classical violinist and as a Los Angeles Studio violinist. She continued music studies at California State University at Northridge until 1973, but with a full music schedule, further studies were put on hold until 1980. At that time, years of formal, strictly regimented music study and performance, a growing son and a growing interest in the arts as therapy led to a decision to attend an accredited alternative education program. She transferred from C.S.U.N. and enrolled in The Union—Undergraduate program-West, University Without Walls to focus on studies including Domestic Violence, Violence and Human Behavior, Non-Verbal Communication, Psychodrama, Human Interaction and Buddhist Meditation and Mental Development. She received a BA in 1983 with a double emphasis in Music and Psychology. She continues to attend independent educational workshops. Classical music performance background includes solo recitals, chamber music and orchestral concerts with organizations such as Carmel Bach Festival, Ernst Krenek Music Festival, Monday Evening Concerts for the Southern California Chamber Music Society, live radio broadcasts for KFAC-FM Sunday Concerts, The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Composers, U.S.A., and the American Society of University Composers. In addition, Meg has over 30 years of experience playing for the Motion Picture, Television, Recording and Live Concert industries. Her career has included a diverse range of performances from live concerts with jazz legends including Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to recordings for rhythm and blues great Ray Charles and rock and industry icons such as Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Christopher Cross and Madonna. Her work with studio orchestras such as MGM, Warner Brothers, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Fox, NBC/TPI, and Turner Entertainment /Television can be heard on an extensive list of award winning recordings and on soundtracks for television, and motion pictures.
